The picture is from CrossFit. It has been really tough, as you can see!! There is a web site where you track your progress and see what the work out is going to be. They took that picture of me seconds after I finished. I am still trying to get down to my fighting weight…so wish me luck!! The other picture is from Easter. I never would have picked that sweater for Guy but I like it.
I have been sick the last couple of days. That is why I have had such a long lapse. I have a sinus infection or something. Who knows, the air is NASTY here. A lot of coughing and stuffy nose…nothing life threatening.
The heat is starting to kick in with a vengeance. Today it was 90 with blowing sand. It is like living inside of a vacuum cleaner bag. One of the Marines got heat cramps and got to ride on a helicopter….to the hospital. He also got the thrill of having his core temperature taken….they don’t stick the thermometer in your mouth. I hear it wasn’t a pretty picture.
I am really excited for the draft. I am still hoping for Percy Harvin but I see some mock drafts have the Vikings drafting William Beatty….I wonder if they know about his hernias? When you get deployed you tend to look forward to events because they are milestones. Two years ago when I was in Africa I remember getting really excited about the draft because the deployment was halfway over. This deployment is definitely dragging on longer than Djibouti. I was busier in Djibouti plus I got to go on a couple of trips. I seriously doubt I will leave the base this time until I come home. That is all part of winning the war. Boredom is preferred over incoming fire any day!!
Just in case anyone cares/forgot…Guy’s birthday is May 4th and Ava’s is May 16th….what can I say…..I love August!!
PS The moustache is gone and not coming back until February 3rd 2014. That is when I get out of this gun club!!

The kids look so cute in the picture. Now, about your picture. I thought people were like horses and after strenuous exercise they were to be walked around to cool off or they will drop dead. By your picture, it looks like you already dropped dead.
ReplyDeleteIf you haven't already, check out Shawn and my interchange at the end of the last post. I never get tired of giving that boy a hard time. Why is that?? I'm glad you're starting to feel better.
Take care.
Mary- none of us get tired of giving Shawn a hard time. Why? Because it's easy.
ReplyDeleteI know exactly why the sinus infection is there! You had the mustache protecting you and now nothing...the body can't handle that kind of shock!
ReplyDeleteHuman punching bag...always has been my role always will be! ;=)
BTW...I did write the Vikes a note about his hernia issues and his age, hope they get the e-mail!
Stay cool!
Shawn,
ReplyDeleteI bet if you ask nicely, Tony will grow the mustache for you when he comes to visit to get his car.
No more mustache! Not even in 2014! It was creepy.
ReplyDeleteHey Pooch,
ReplyDeleteI finally decided to join this blog...instead of just reading it, I'd figure I'd participate.
You got your wish...as far as the Vikes draft. Way to call that one...you may have a future.
The stash was comical. You looked like me in high school. You never could grow facial hair. Remember we had that bet for one summer to see who could last the longest without shaving. I shaved, Pete shaved, you got shaved when you got a haircut. Such a baby face!
Stay cool, stay safe...email me!

Brett Favre released from the NY Jets...his comment was "at this time I am retired" I smell cheese in Purple!
ReplyDeleteKaylin's softball team the Phoenix won their first game of the season in 16 and under tonight 16-11 (And it wasn't even as close as the score sounds...3 defensive mistakes gave up at least 5 runs)
